The Novabikes

Since Nova Racing was formed back in 2007, the team has developed 10 racing motorcycles. Novabikes 1 to 6 were driven using bio-diesel. Then, in 2015, the team decided to make the switch to electric propulsion systems, seeing the benefits in performance and sustainability as the path forwards for motorcycle racing.

Each novabike tells a story… The story of the blood, sweat, and tears, and countless hours that that went into the development of each motorcycle. Take a walk down memory lane and see how Nova Electric Racing has progressed from our roots in Bio-Ethanol Racing until the development of our current motorcycle.

Nova 8

The NovaBike 08 is the 8th iteration of the NovaBike series and the 2nd iteration of the electric NovaBike. It is the 2017 European Champion of the MotoE Competition. The combination of lightning fast acceleration and aerodynamic bodywork make for a fearsome sport bike. Simply a pure race feeling.
2016-2017

Nova 7

The NovaBike 07 is the first fully electric racing motorcycle that we've ever made. This bike was the end result of the first team of Nova Electric Racing, that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2015/2016. This bike was the first fully electric racing motorcycle of the Netherlands.
2015-2016

Nova 6

The NovaBike 06 is the last generation of our bio-ethanol based motorcycle. This bike was the end result of the last NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2014/2015.
2014-2015

Nova 5

The NovaBike 05 is the fifth generation of our bio-ethanol based motorcycle. This bike was the end result of the fifth NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2013/2014.
2013-2014

Nova 4

The NovaBike 04 is the fourth generation of our bio-ethanol based motorcycle. This bike was the end result of the fourth NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2012/2013.
2012-2013

Nova 3

The NovaBike 03 is the third generation of our bio-ethanol based motorcycle. This bike was the end result of the third NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2011/2012.
2011-2012

Nova 2

The NovaBike 02 is the 2nd generation of our bio-ethanol based motorcycle. This bike was the end result of the second NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2010/2011. After thorough analysis of the NovaBike 01, they decided to build a completely new motorcycle. Their focus was to reduce weight and to make all the parts easily accessible for maintenance and easy to assemble. To make this happen they, for example, designed and produced their own frame and swingarm, partially renewed the engine block and developed a new bodywork and seat. In the end they managed to reduce the weight of the bike by 7 kilograms.
2010-2011

Nova 1

The NovaBike 01 is the 1st bio-ethanol based motorcycle we've ever made. This bike was the end result of the first NovaBike Racing Team Delft that designed and produced this bike in the academic year 2009/2010. They bought an Aprilia frame, a one cylinder motor from KTM and some wheels and developed their own digital fuel injection system and carbon fiber bodywork. They started from zero, but after one year of hard work, they managed to finish one race in Oschersleben with their rider Nick Appelman. They showed what they were worth and proved that it was indeed possible to race on bio-ethanol.
